Got up at 4:00 AM Tuesday to get to Sandy Hook by first light. Light on the little plovers was beautiful just after sunrise, but the birds didn't cooperate with good poses and locations. Went off in search of other subjects, and came back several hours later to find this little guy on a low rise. Wish I could have found him two hours earlier.

This is such a nice image Bill! It's got everything you want in a shorebird shot, really nice pose, low angle, eye contact, head turn and lovely details in the bird.

Bill, are these birds endemic to the US or are they migratory?

Thank you all for the kind words. Here's a repost with a fraction off the top, and a bit of selective sharpening.

Mark, These little guys breed in the Arctic tundra, and migrate to winter grounds along the US Gulf Coast and the South American Atlantic coast (maybe Pacific too?? I saw one in the Galapagos Islands in May). They're just passing through our area now.
