Nice exposure, BG and perch, Arsdel. Wing feathers look sharp but head and bill slightly OOF. Also the head top looks unusually flat for a House Finch - must be the angle of camera? Would wish for a little CCW head turn for better eye contact. TFS!

I liked the unusual pose here. Thx for sharing. I think a small reduction in contrast might help.

Nice close image. The photo looks overflashed. What flash was used, and what were the settings?

Lots of strangeness with this image....Everything from the neck down looks fine. The head looks quite strange from the flat crown to the cut-out looking feathers on the edge (what did you do there??) to the strange looking eye. The face behind the eye also looks very weird. Did you make some sort of selection around the head and the upper breast?

Lastly, I am not sure that this bird is a House Finch (but I am no expert)> If you have a side view of this same individual, please post it here. :)

Agree on something funny going on in the face? How much of a crop is this, too much DOF for f/5.6
Nice EXP and detail on the body plumage.

After looking at the original image the flat-appearing head is due to camera angle. The bird is either a House Finch or a Purple Finch. I have trouble distinguishing the two. Thanks for your opinions.
