So, this is not the best shot for a lot of reasons, but it could be 10 years before I ever capture this again! Please give me suggestions on cropping in particular, that seems to be a weak point of mine. I realize the image is a little dark, I had to adjust the image to compensation for a few blowouts on her white. . .

hand held from kayak again.
Seems you could lighten the darks while leaving the extreme lights as is. On the crop, I like the pano but a little tight on the right - did you have more to start with? Another thought is to remove the chick on the right and add a little canvas on the right. I agree you have to take these when you can, but this one would give a lot of inspiration to continuing to seek the perfect pose.
Hi Sandra - exposure wise - tough birds with anything but soft light.
For me --- The HA on the adult is not ideal - maybe you might have got away with it - if there was more interaction with the chick - as is too turned to far away.
Think it could also do with some CCW rotation - the chick on the left looks like he is swimming up hill.
Can see what you were going for - doesnt quite work for me :)
Hi Sandra These guys are some kind of tough to shoot !!! Need absolute ideal conditions for overall detail in shadow/highlights !!
Crop wise would take some from the top, not much there and have a bit more of the bottom .. would give a little more room up front in direction they are looking !! Tough getting good head angle when doing multiples .. hope you will get another shot at these guys next season !!!
Hi Sandra, agree with comments above. The comp does look a bit imbalanced and agree with Al about taking some off the top and adding to the bottom. Also agree about more room to the left and right.
You are getting some nice opportunities in that kayak...
Thank you for the comments. . . Now that I have a better camera, hopefully I will have some better shots next summer. I've learned SO much, and I really appreciate all of the feedback. Thinking I might superglue a tripod to my kayak . . . ;-)
