One photographer who I have constantly been impressed with his work, is Michael Brown. His macro pictures are always some of the most impressive images I have seen, and one of my favourite series of his is called "In Their World" and almost always features an insect, in its own environment. I have always thought, if I wasn't so obsessed with birds, that I would spend a lot more time taking abstract and detailed macro photos that I find are always full of colour and beauty!
Every once in a while, I find I have a bird image, where the bird is small-ish in the frame, that goes against the alert "field guide" pose that I often try to get, and elements of the background seem to fall together into something I find appealing. I've decided to try to bring these images together, and eventually turn it into a series, that I gave the name "Life with Wings" - To me, its like looking into the birds life, without disturbing it. Similar to the feeling I get when a bird loses it fear of me while photographing it, and goes about its normal feeding/preening/resting life without a glance my direction! A view at what birds are doing when we're not around, and what they're focused on. Anyways! below is the first one I've posted, and I would be interested to see what people think!
Hi Brandon, A beautiful bird, one I have never encountered. You captured nice detail in beautiful light and I like the natural BG.
If this were mine I would crop on all sides, eliminating most of the OOF foreground. The nit in this image is the disappearance of the bird's beak and neck into the background. I don't think there is an easy way to fix this.
Brandon I find the coloration appealing in his image. The surrounding colors complement the birds'. The comp is less appealing IMO, I would have preferred a bit less FG. But a pleasing image overall.
Awesome mood in this image Brandon. I don't like how centered he is in the frame though. I would crop him closer to the top left or bottom left corner.
