    Default Aborted Tern Dive

Photographed last week at Bolsa Chica Wetlands, Huntington Beach, CA. The tern had lunged into a dive but aborted before hitting the water surface.

    Thanks in advance. Best, JR

Great sharpness, exposure and perfect shutter speed for the occasion. I'm not sure about the water line though, I would prefer it straightened?

nice 3D feel here, good light too

I can see Chris' point, as we judge horizon by defining lines...rotating it would cause the tern to dive more diagonally, which could also strengthen the image

Cool topside view and fanned tail, light and sharpness look very good, too. I can see Chris' point and wish there were a bit more eye contact. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you all for the kind feedback. Upon Chris' suggestion I checked how the image looks like if the waterline is straightened and it's not as bad as I had imagined originally. I may repost it later also with some different NR and sharpening.

Wow, great catch, not ways to do. Love the EXP, sharpness and especially the painterly BG. TFS, John.

Impressive sharpness on a tough subject! There's enough eye contact that I do wish for more. The bird really pops against that BG.
