    Default Cattle Egret in Breeding Plumage

    Photographed in a large egret colony consisting of some 800 nest - little, Intermediate, great and Cattle egrets.

    Canon EOS 3, Canon 100-300 F5.6l, ISO 100, natural light with fill flash, Tower/Hide, tripod.

    I like the interaction, or lack thereof. :) The parent looks quite ignorant. Great breeding plumage, exposure control and details.

    Rookeries are tough places. You did well with the clutter. Unless your birds are totally different from ours, this bird is in post breeding plumage. That said they pretty much never look like this over here. Do you ever see them with the magenta, pinks, purple, and bright cherry red about the face and lores?

    No not that colour variation Art - I have noticed your Catlle egrets appear somewhat different.
