    Default Elephant Charge

Asiatic elephant, Bandipur Tiger Reserve, India. This elephant charged and stopped a few paces from my vehicle. The first charge was recorded with a 300mm f4 lens. The next time when it charged, I had picked up my Mark IV and captured at wide angle. The previous images of the series are here:

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, f11, 1/250, 11.9 meters (as recorded in the camera, though I felt it was closer), full frame image.

Seeing the entire Elephant makes this image a lot stronger, an interesting convergance from the trees.

A nice halo of dust indicates movement, I hope the branches were not to be used to beat you:)

Agree with Ken here, the dust halo really tells the story, well captured Saby.

Definitely agree that this is the mostly pleasing visual of the ones you've posted (IMO). Although you don't get the same sense of how large and angry these animals can be, the dust, the environment, the expression and even the elephant in the background all come together in a well composed and strong image. Like this alot.

Well captured and glad you had a wide angle !!!

Made a couple of changes without doing much, just shadow/highlight and in curves used the pre set linear contrast !! Got a little more detail in the ele and vegetation more vibrant !! Like the wide angle version better than the others ... great experience !!!

    Al,

The repost opens it up a lot, and certainly brings out more detail.
