Rough landing at the puffin island, my boat came in fine but this one is about to get swamped !!! If you look at the stern a wave just washed over it and lots of water is inside the boat !!

For the second try the entire ramp was being washed to the top of the steps making landing virtually impossible !

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

When I was there 2 years ago, it looked pretty much like that. It was not only wet, some people got some bruises when they tried to get out of the boat.

Yeah, my shin had pretty colors for 2 weeks afterward. LOL A minor thing - the visit was totally worth the wound.

Trust me....that's a good day!!! 17 times on the island.....about 8 years ago they blew up/dynamited that landing area!!! Been on that island 17 times!....each an adventure. Walking the plank on seawees is #1 bad.....all an adventure! 2 easy landings! I miss the terns now.....but still a great spot to do the puffin!

Yes, I think there were several people with similar 'souvenirs'. :)

Yes, I recall that landing. My exit off the boat and onto the island wasn't pretty, but I made it. Worth it, but dangerous.

I wouldn't have minded landing again and taking the chance...especially that my knees are almost healed :p

Similar to landings on some of the Galápagos islands, but without the flat jetty, helpers or dog. BTW, is the dog in case if anyone falls in Al? :D

Is this the usual boat that goes to Machias from Maine? No wonder seasickness seems to be commonplace.
Much larger and more comfortable boat from Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada (naturally)! www.seawatchtours.com
