Actually, in my experience it's the precious 5 Golden Minutes...there's that 5-minute section in the time-continuum before sunset and after sunrise when the light is just magnifico...after/before that it is nice, but not magnifico...anyone agree?

I am attending a conference in Sun City, and drove through very early on Sunday morning to make a turn in the Pilanesberg National Park. These giraffes were luckily in place for a good sunrise shot as I drove up the main road from Manyane gate.

Morkel, I quite agree on the 'magnifico' light and lucky the photographer who has an interesting sighting during that short time. Love this image for the pose of the giraffe, and the soft one in the bg balances the comp, the lighting and the environment.

    Morkel,
I like the soft light here and the placement and pose of the giraffe amongst the bushes and trees.

Morkel - I agree with you about that 5 minutes of light and you did well to find the giraffes during that time. I think the oof giraffe in the bg adds to the image. This image evokes fond memories for me of the serenity of early morning drives and the graceful giraffes.

thanks a lot for the kind comments everyone...I also liked the OOF one and framed the shot specifically so - there weren't many angles to get them this clear anyway :)

Yes, the sweet five minutes when you hope you have a good subject and setting to use that wonderful light on, and it looks as if you put it to good use here. Lovely image and placement.
