    Default Brown Thrasher, I think!

Cloned a branch and darkened the foliage for contrast. Some blending of highlights, and a crop to eliminate distractions. the original image appears sharper than the post. Can't quite figure that out!

The tail was clipped by some foliage...........:(

I noticed that, too. I also noticed that the file we uploaded seem to have reduced in size afterward for some reason.

Not a big deal to me. I do wish the foliage could be a bit neat and tidy though;)

Like the pose and exposure seems good. On my monitor it looks the bird could use a little bit contrast boost. Hmmm...wonder if there's some color cast there. Otherwise, looks good to me.

Hi Jay Sharpness wise how are you saving the images for posting and when are you sharpening? .... can make all the difference !!!

Like the pose and setting, would crop some from the left and have the extra room to the right in the direction the bird is looking .. around the tail is very tight !! Very pleasing and has a good feel !!

    Hi Alfred,

I'm using LR3 to export .tif images as .jpg at max quality, 800x600. I do the sharpening beforehand in PS, typically using smart sharpen. Is there a better way?

Like the pose and BG, looks like a little more room all around would be nice. (especially near the tail) I usually do three rounds of sharpening. Initial sharpening after conversion in ACR. NR gives it more sharpening, sometimes selective sharpening on head/eye area. (Eye for sure), and finally after downsizing, sharpening for web. I use Photokit which Al recommended. If any of it creates artifacts in the BG I might just make the subject back in. My workflow anyways. Think there is a thread in Educational resources for sharpening.

Hi Jay - agree with the above - there are a multitude of ways to sharpen - just a matter of finding what works best for you an fits with your workflow.

I only sharpen on a separate layer - so that it is non destructive and can be adjusted - prior to final output.
Pose, HA and Bg all look good.
    Keep em coming :)

Jay you captured a nice head turn and pose. The framing is a bit tight, IMO. Nice color in the BG too.

Hi Jay, Agree about more room left and rt. Good pose along with even lighting.
    It is a Thrasher...

This is so delightful and playful a pose, and on such a great perch, it almost looks stuffed and staged! I only say that because I've not been so fortunate yet! Delightful pose, wonderful positioning, great capture. It does seem a little crowded in the frame, I would only add more space to the left of the bird. . . but I'm not an expert
