This was taken on a recent trip to Ding Darling in Sanibel, Florida. These birds are frequently found at Ding Darling but not always out in the open.

Nice pose, light, and eye contact. I like the separation between the head and the green leaves, and also the way the yellow crown stands out.

Judy, Nice inclusion of the environment w/o taking away from the bird. Sharp and well exposed.

I like the inclusion of the habitat, pose and angle. The whites could go a bit darker for my taste.

Super pose Judy, and the heron is separated from the BG so well. This is also so sharp.

Excellent for all the reasons others have already noted. Wonderful details in the heron.

The habitat is important, but I would consider slightly fading the stems and branches (though not the green leaves) that are a little
bit busy behind the bird. I think the bird could also be brightened a little, as long as you stay away from the whites. Great capture.

    Hey Judy Lynn,
Nice to see the inclusionof habitat once in a while;)....I like Davids repost idea further minimizing the BG yet keeping it important to the scene. That's where you usually find these guys so nice to see some story along with the beautiful YCNH!

Judy, good call on the shooting angle. Our natural instinct is to go down which might have been disastrous in this case. Well done on including the habitat...nice balance between blur and definition. Thx for sharing.
