Default Galapagos 2010 #2 (last week's theme :)) Feeding Frenzy

I have been privileged to experience several Blue-footed Booby feeding sprees. I have found that photographing the sprees well to be quite challenging :)

Going blur has been the most successful....

This image was created with the handheld 70-200mm f/4 IS lens (at 70mm). ISO 500 (should have been ISO 50 but who can think clearly during a frenzy?). Evaluative metering +1/3 stop (should have been zero/same excuse as above :)): 1/30 sec. at f/20 in Tv Mode. AI Servo AF with 45 point.

The bird (right upper center) with the bluest most obvious feet was added from another frame in the series.

I wish that I could have gone a bit wider but Juan had the panga too close to the action for me!

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

Nice amount of blur and great action captured. I might evict the rectangle light streak near the top center if it were mine. Nicely done w/ the addition of the bird.

Very Nice blur, Artie. I have seen this behavior only on films. I like the shapes and few blue feet. I also like those splashes in the water and wished for more. TFS.

Really like the one wing really outstretched in the LLC and looking for the blue feet really makes me look at the image. Also the wings looks neat getting longer at the bottom as they get ready for their dives. Nice blur Artie.

Very nice blur, the blue feet really make the image for me. Must have been one impressive sighting. Glad the master also makes tech errors in the excitement of the moment. :)

The blur really adds to the already frenetic pace of the action! I really like the way it tells the story. The splashes are very cool! I like the added bird, seems like there was a space there to fill and it adds a nice bit of color.
