I used Topaz Adjust, Topaz Detail and Topaz Clean on this one in layers and with varying opacity. My first time to use all 3 and I like the painterly look.

Judy, I like the effect also. It looks like fire in the sky. I am not sold on the square crop(personal preference) but cannot offer a better suggestion than taking a bit off the top. I do like the cloud patterns at the top and would hate to lose them but the depth and colors are strong enough. Lets see what others say. Nice work bringing out the drama.

Judy, the effect is really nice. I think I agree with Denise - IMHO I think it would look nice as a pano crop leaving the lowest burst of pink and cropping out the clouds going up in a V shape - to me they take my eyes in too many directions.:)

Thanks Denise. The comp isn't ideal but I didn't want to lose any of it.

Thanks Cheryl. I cropped it as you suggested but I'm not really that fond of it. What do you all think of it?

Here is a more vertical crop. What do you think? I also posted a pano-type crop.

Awesome sky, Judy! :) Very dramatic and I love fiery colors and painted look. Not sure which comp I like best, both the original and the last post look pretty good to me.

This is a very late repost to your terrific Downdraft post, which I like a lot. There was in interesting excahnge on crop options, and I tend to like panos also. However, giving up the top seemed a shame, and I was surprised no one kept the complete image, and just "squished" it into a pano. Here is a quick attempt with nothing else done. Works for me. What dio you think?
