Default Weekly Theme: Fractalius Wood Duck

Attached is a photo I took of a wood duck puttering around on the water. I then processed using the Photoshop plugin Fractalius. I blended in the eye from the original at about 70% and added about 20% of the rest of the body. This blending yielded some nice texture.

Nice composition, Mike. I like the colors and fract effect on the duck. The water with the reflection has come out nice too. The only thing I can suggest is to have a bit more space on the left.

Mike this is pretty and different and I like it as presented - as you say, nice textures :)

Nice sketch effect and colours. I think I might add a little more canvas to make him more off-center. Well done.

I struggled with how much water to leave visible on the left, and in the morning light, and in light of the feedback I created a variation that has a bit more water to the left. Thanks for the comments!

Mike, Nice to see you posting again. Great use of the filter and I love the playful look to this. In addition to the added canvas on the left I might have kept the room on top and ditched the reflection since it really isn't complete and competes w/ the duck. This would place your subject a bit lower in the frame and would help to anchor the image more IMHO. Looking forward to more of your creative work.

Mike, great use of fractalius. I like the repost with more room on the left.

Appreciate the feedback. I learned the trick of keeping the "real" eye visible from one of your (Denise's) earlier works, the fox as I recall.

I've definitely struggled w/the framing on this one. I finally got the courage to drop most of the reflection. When flipping between the versions I do like this one the best (so far :-)

Hi Mike, I really like this - the colors and fract effect are striking and interesting. I think your last post is the best. Looking forward to more!

I love the colors and effects. I like this one best of the 3. I like the ripples in the foreground and he has more space to swim into since he's going diagonally. Nothing wrong with the last one though, it looks good too.
