Galapagos 2010: Marine Iguana Blur

On a making soup from a stone morning--Denise and most of the group were climbing a volcano while I took a short beach walk with two of the clients, I created this intentional blur with the Canon 70-200 mm f/4L IS lens and the 1.4X II TC (handheld at 215mm) with the EOS-1D MIV. ISO 50. Evaluative metering +2/3 stop: 1/4 sec. at f/45.

I guess the TC made it go from f32 to 45. Love the blur, but would have like to have the whole tail in Artie:)

Cool blur with the eye relatively sharp! I especially like the feet, looking like they are really going to town... Techs are wild, I love it.

Thanks all for commenting. Had I included the (very long) tail the creature's body would not have filled very much of the frame.... Thus, my choice of focal length in the field was a conscious one that I thought best at the time (and still do) :)
