    Default Great Gray Owl

Taking inventory of his surroundings. Took this picture a couple years ago and this owl was fed during our visit :)

Full frame image. Thanks for looking :)

    striking pose Bill.
Like very much seeing those huge eyes.

Wonder if a bit more brightness/contrast, especially in upper tones and snow, would showcase this better?

What a massive pose! I can imagine a pour vole caught in this guy's shadow as it pounces down on it. I also like the snow flailing underneath the wing. Might consider cloning out the few bright imperfections in the snow near the bottom.

Great photo of an awesome animal Bill, very impressive. The resized jpeg could use some selective sharpening on the head. Personally I would try to get rid of the blue cast in the shadows and the BG.

Thanks Vincent for your helpful comments. The blue in the shadow and n the snow is a natural reflection of the blue sky. I'm not sure that changing it would look right.

    Thanks,

Great contrast between the owl and the BG. I like the outstretched wing, and the perfect eye contact.
