    Default Juvenile Green Heron

    40D. 400f5.6L at f/7.1. iso 320. 1/1250s. Cropped from horizontal.

I am neither a big fan of steep angles nor of sky BG. But the comp and pose caught my eye.

    All C&C welcome and appreciated.

The alert pose really makes this interesting. Could you have backed up to make the angle look less steep?

I agree with Axel. Love the alert pose, good exposure and detail. As mentioned a little steep but sometimes that can not be helped. Well done !!!

Its a bit steep but the pose and perch go nicely together as the Heron almost mimics the shape of the branch very cool.

Yes, I could have. But 40D files dont take heavy cropping too well. In this one, I am already throwing away 60% of the pixels. I was really going for flight shot so did not have the TC on the camera at the time.

Hi Kaustubh, I like how the stretched posture mirror's the vertical branch on the left. I also like the curved perch he's perched on. Well captured.

An unusual view of a neat young bird. I like it quite a bit. I wish that the matching shape perch had a bit more character.
