    Default Young Black Necked Stilt

This was taken last night. Things were pretty quiet at Green Cay but I had a wonderful time watching this young black necked stilt exploring his surroundings. Everything is such an adventure at that age.

    Nikon D300 , Nikon 300mm F 2.8, ISO 400, 1/1250 F8, manual

Very nice striding pose, eye contact and sharpness. Interesting to see how much the little ones have grown since I have been there a couple of weeks ago. I might tone down the whites a bit.

    Are the Spoonbills still there?

They are Axel but unfortunately I did not see them last night. There has been about twenty or more spotted there each evening. Love your featured image. :)

I like the angled pose and the angled leg up. Nice water drops too. All it takes is one cooperative subject to salvage an outing!

Judy, that single water drop at the end of the beak, puts this over the top. I like the angled posture with the raised foot, and its always good to see the youngsters.

    Hi Judy Lynn,
Another vote for those water drops :D
A beautiful image of one of my very favourite birds - lovely details in both the blacks and the whites :)
    Best,

I love this for all of the reasons mentioned above. You did especially well working from a boardwalk. Question: no flash??? Coulda fooled me!

A lower angle would make it even stronger,
Love the walking pose, eye contact and the drops.
I would sharpen it a bit less.

    Very nicely done Judi,

I spent some days this week photographing the same subject. I hope I got one as good as yours when I get back to processing.

The water drop and raised leg are great.
