    50D, 300mm2.8+2xTC, 1/250, f6.3, ISO800, Speedlite 550 w/BB, ETTL 0 comp., partial metering.
This bird was in complete shadows with a brilliant sunlit background some early morning haze from the river. Tough, for me, metering and exposure situation.
    Some NR, sharpening.

Hi John, seeing the difficult lighting situation I feel you handled the image well. You managed to get a non distracting backround with good placement of the subject.
I would have only wished for better lighting on the bird itself...

Very tough conditions. Good use of the speedlite, and great pose. Maybe a bit of contrast boost on the bird might help to bring him out.

Hi John - doing well - agree with the above comments - a little more contrast to the bird would give it that bit of added POP.

Wondering if the HAP might want to question you!
    ;)

BG is lovely, and I think adding some contrast would help. So hard to get a shot where everything works, Good try!

Thanks all. Yes, tried more contrast, looks better.

HAP might want to question me? Why me? They should talk to the bird! I just photograph whatever is in my viewfinder.

Agree with more contrast will enhance the shot. :) Lucky you to get a clean and wide open shot.
