For me it depends on what the picture is, I print 3 types normally matte, glossy and metallic, depends on the subject / colors, for example if it has great colors metallic looks great, a fall shot of oxbow bend for example looks great. For some other things I like matte, for example some low light elk shots I preferred those on matte. For the glossy I usually do it for things like cars, people etc.
its all a matter of preference I think, some things look good on any of them and some of them just dont :)
It is a matter of preference (mine is matte), but if it is going to be behind glass I would most definitely print it on matte paper as you wouldn't want double the glare with the gloss/glass combo.
that also depends on the glass, if you use anti glare it cuts down on that, if you have a metallic print with good glass it removes quite a bit of the glare
I prefer a luster paper when I am using paper, but of late I have been using canvas. My sales at the art shows have doubled since using canvas. The people just seem to prefer canvas to the traditional print behind glass.
out of curiosity where do you get them printed? I had a few printed the past few years but was not happy with the quality /colors at all
Jamie I get my large canvas printed with Canvaspress, www.canvaspress.com . I have been very happy with them. The smaller 13X around 19 or so I do on my Epson R1900. This is an example of a few in my booth. The top ones are all canvas. My husband stretches and frames them.

I bulk-print at Toronto Image Works using their Chromira printer and matte paper.
thanks Nancy I will give them a try !
I've been printing some images on Canon Fine Art Rag Paper on my Pro 9000 MK II and I'm really warming up to them. It's amazing how sharp they look even though they are on cotton rag paper.
