It must be a baby, because I can't even get close to the adult songbirds. There is a lot of little things wrong with it, but I thought it had character. If anyone knows the ID please let me know. I will post two versions because I am not sure which one I like. C and C appreciated.

The two versions look too similar to me :D:D

I think the second one has the rock a bit darker? :o I prefer that version if you put a gun in my head :p

Anyhow, if this were mind, I would crop the bottom more. This may lead to cropping some from the left, too, unfortunately. Another option would be to crop the top a bit. But I would darken the perch much more as it is now too bright, much brighter than the bird.

Second post has bird sharpened more and the eye lightened:D. I could try darkening the perch some more, but i have so few opportunities to photograph them.... it is was it is. )I hate that saying......, but I only managed a few shots before he wised up and flew away.

Hi Jackie, I think you have an Eastern Meadowlark juvi here. I like the second one also and agree that the difference is very subtle. I like the pose but not sure about the HA, could be trouble! :)

Nice angle and catchlight in the eye. Though the rock looks a touch hot.

Thanks for the comments. Cropped to elimimate some of the perch, darkened the perch with paint with light (an action from action central), and Kerry, Artie has just come back from the Galapagos and is probably busy sorting through files, I may escape the pen. :D

Hi Jackie - repost works for me - lots to like here, sharp as a tack - like the action - HA is fine with me.

Hi Jackie, the repost is a definate improvement especially the handling of the rock. Good lighting along with bringing out the detail in the bird. Backround is muted but still shows the environment, Good one...
