Timing: perfect. Behavior: interesting. Head angle and EXP: poor. Image quality: poor. BKGR: mega noisy. At the very least, you needed lots more flash.

I thought it was PEEEE ... RTY funny with the timing. It was late, shaded and the lighting was poor. I'll work on the flash.

Wow, I just captured one of the best images of my life this morning of an adult Red-Bellied Woodpecker and a Juvenile Red-Bellied Woodpecker. Both were clinging to a Live Oak Tree with the adult slightly higher on the tree than the juvenile. The adult was leaning down placing food into the open beak of the juvenile. It is a touching photograph telling a great story and I could hardly wait to post it to your forum for the interaction theme.
By virtue of your last post with your 'no excuses' comment, I will post my image elsewhere to avoid being publickly insulted and belittled.

We would love to see it.

Being insulted and belittled is your choice. The "no excuses" comment was meant to indicate that we can only critique an image, not a situation no matter how difficult. My intent throughout was to help you to create better images.
BTW, there are lots of other sites where you will be told that all of your images are great.... But you will not learn anything there. Good luck finding them.

One of the reasons that I visit here is to receive suggestions for improvement. I have received excellent suggestions on other sites and here as well. I appreciate the fine people here and don't understand why you chose to post such an insulting and belittling comment.
I chose to post this image for two reasons. The first because it was different and enlightening. Even if it wasn't the greatest quality image, it is unique and I felt would be enjoyed by all. The second was to see what suggestions would be recommended.
Your first post in this thread was fair and well taken and I felt your comment was to help me improve my images as you stated.
My reply was intended to inform you the picture was taken late when there was little light.
You referred to the low lighting comment and retorted, " ... there are no excusee". How would this comment improve an image? My intent was to point out the low lighting situation and not for you to refer to it as an excuse. I dont' appreciate the demeaning comment.
Additionally, why do you put down other sites stating nothing will be learned there? There are some other sites where I have received excellent suggestions. The first person to give me top notch advice from another site was an outstanding photographer by the name of Dave in LA (God rest his soul). I surely hope that you are not implying that he didn't offer meaningful advice because he did. He was an outstanding individual.
If you wish to continue this discussion please follow up with a PM as I feel this is counterproductive for me, you and birdphotographers.net to continue. I will not be replying via this post via this thread respecting the members of this site.
Hi Again Thomas,
re:

Apparently you did not read or understand my comment above in Pane #6.
I chose to post this image for two reasons. The first because it was different and enlightening.
I agree on the different.
Even if it wasn't the greatest quality image
We do agree on that.
it is unique
Most images aer.
and I felt would be enjoyed by all.
I am sure that many of the folks who viewed it enjoyed seeing it. I am puzzled as to why nobody else has commented on the image.
The second was to see what suggestions would be recommended.
Good plan.
Your first post in this thread was fair and well taken and I felt your comment was to help me improve my images as you stated.
Agree again.
My reply was intended to inform you the picture was taken late when there was little light.
I understood that. With proper techniques it is a lot easier to create pleasing images of good quality with digital. That's why I mentioned using more flash. And I assumed that you knew about Noise Reduction and Head Angle.
You referred to the low lighting comment and retorted, " ... there are no excuses".
That is correct.
How would this comment improve an image?
By getting you and others to realize that we can do wonders with digital, and, as I stated above, that we can only judge the artistic and technical qualities of a posted JPEG. We cannot take into account difficult conditions. A photo is what it is.
My intent was to point out the low lighting situation and not for you to refer to it as an excuse.
It was in part an excuse. How can your intentions govern what I think? You are sounding a lot like God.
I don't appreciate the demeaning comment.
I got that and that is your choice. I have made similar comments here countless times and you are the first to have taken it personally. And I love that you have chosen to do that as a good discussion has resulted.
Additionally, why do you put down other sites stating nothing will be learned there?
Because there are many sites where that it true.
There are some other sites where I have received excellent suggestions.
Same here.
The first person to give me top notch advice from another site was an outstanding photographer by the name of Dave in LA (God rest his soul).
That would be Dave Phillips. He posted here often and he called them as he saw them. We were fairly good on-line friends. I am pretty sure that he would have agreed with my (and your) assessment of the image above and I know that he would not accept any excuses for poor images.
I surely hope that you are not implying that he didn't offer meaningful advice because he did.
I did not say that all other sites did not offer meaningful critiques. I said that there were many sites that would tell you that the image above was just great. I love that you are trying to put words in my mouth.
He was an outstanding individual.
Agree. And I love that you choose to try and insult me with your comments. Good try but you have failed. :)

There you go playing God again.
I will not be replying via this post via this thread respecting the members of this site.
I am confused by that.
