    Default Short-Billed Dowitcher Preening

    1. Can someone help with ID? I am not 100% sure.
    2. Preening shot, is this against the rule? Should the bird be parallel to the sensor for a preening shot?

Lovely pose and colours Troy. I am wondering if the point of focus was more on the body of the bird than the eye. Not sure, eye looks a little softer than the feathers.

Point of focus was on the head, but it was a decent crop, losing some details.

I like the pose, and the way it's preening itself, though having it preen on this side would've been better.

Hi Troy - Artie would say YES - I believe the head should be parallel to the sensor plane for a preening shot.
Might crop a little from the bottom - other than that looking good - colours look good.
Hope you are enjoying the D3S - awesome high ISO capabilities - I am shooting 1600ISO as a starting point at present (overcast days and shooting in the shade) go to 3200 with out a thought.

    Thank you Lance.
I'll probably delete this shot. It is not as sharp as I like to be due to decent crop. Loving my d3s :) Will try again next time.
