Found this Pewee by a stream near my house. Very deep woods. Not sure if this is too dark or not. Didn't want to use a flash, wanted the look of the dark woods.

    Janet:

I like the inquisitive pose, soft background with just a little color.
Even though I tend to like darker images, I might consider about 1/3 stop more exposure here.
The bird looks a bit soft, perhaps some more sharpening.
In a perfect world, I would say the perch is a bit large for the bird.

    Thanks for sharing.

Cute pose and very nice BG. I find the perch a bit large and would sharpen the bird more. I agree, it could go a bit lighter, did you dial in any positive exposure compensation?

Nice find Janet. I see some noise artifacts in the background, surprising for ISO 500 on the 40D. The bird looks a bit soft to me too, wondering if this is a large crop?

    Hi All,
To answer your question, no I did not dial in any compensation, and it is about a 50% crop. I agree now looking at the bird, I would like it a little brighter.
    Thanks for the comments.
