Taken on the Anhinga Trail boardwalk early in the morning using the Mark3 for the first time this Jan. Mounted on a tripod with old Wimberly head and the Sigma 300-800mm set at 300mm at f8 and 1/4000 sec at ISO 640. Slight crop top, and left.

HI Roman Excellent capture Always a plus getting them with the fish That must have been out back by the gazebo

Sure wish you could have had a better sun angle to avoid the shadow on its neck Not much you can do from where you are shooting If you ripped them with the MK3 you might have one with the full wing down position? I like the smooth water bg and that you got the bird before it went past you !!!! Excellent !!!

    Hi Alfred,
This was on the short boardwalk where it splits to go to the Gazebo near the twig perch in the water. He dove into the water to catch the fish...flew to railing....and flew in front of me parrallel. 20 plus something shots blasted off with autofocus....every wing position.( Imight prefer the up stroke even in shadow)......all sharp.......most with wings in. I fell in Love right there with the Mark3:D

PS Below post has perch twig cloned out of bottom.

Like both shots - might not have cropped the first one as much from the top. In both shots, there is a sizable sharpening halo visible around the legs - they don't need sharpening so I would recommend not to apply any there. Did you use shadows/highlights on the second one, I seem to detect a faint tell-tale halo from its use around the bird.

I like the first one a bit better with the curled primaries but light angle, light angle, light angle causes pretty much irreperable damage to images at least from where I sit... Later and love, artie

I think both poses are nice, but I like the first one better because the head is clear of the wing, and I like the curled primaries on the near wing. The fish is a real bonus. As Artie mentioned, the poor light angle has hurt this otherwise nice flight shot.
