Well soon the 'Glorious 12th' will be here, and these little guys will be the target for most sportsmen & women paying a handsome fee to bag this small game bird.

Steve:
He does look like he is looking out for trouble.
Lovely colors here with multi colored bands in BG matching the foreground colors. Rich tones in the bird go great with BG.
I like the placement in the frame, might consider a very small crop off top, just 25% or so of the top green band.
Neat.
Randy
Ironically Randy my first crop was tighter, albeit moved down (more foreground, less above), but felt it was a fraction tight?might consider a very small crop off top, just 25% or so of the top green band.
Harshad, these birds are breed during the year and then shot as game birds for the table. :DWhats the story
cheers
Steve

magic shot steve, sharp, nice BG,these are my favorite game birds, and as you say, soon be the glorious 12th,but if we did not have grouse moors and keepers,I afraid the habitat would disapear and most of the grouse.heather eaten by sheep.thanks.
Yep, too right Christopher.

Interesting head-on point of view, I also like the soft light, flowers and BG. I might crop a bit off the top to remove the brown area at the top. I'm glad you found this pretty bird before someone with less friendly intentions.
Great IQ ! IMG is sharp and well exposed with great colours and DOF. Well done on a fine IMG !
Interesting pose, lovely setting.
A beaut Steve. Just love the surroundings and colours.
Great setting here, loved the colours and that two spec of red above the birds eye makes this for me..
Late to the party. I would take just a bit off the top as I love the bands of color in the BKGR. I would lighten it a bit and ease off on the SAT a bit. All in all loverly.
