    this shot was taken last month on my local river,they breed evrey year on this shingle,cloned out some midges that were flying just above the shingle,slight crop,and some sharpening.cannon 50d.400mm prime lens,hand held,lying on stomach,1/4000sec,-1/3ec,iso800,f5.6,I know I could have lowered iso,but I forgot.comments good or bad welcome.thanks.

    Chris:

    Nice shooting angle, sharp, and it doesn't appear that your ISO hurt this image. Reds look a bit over saturated, but perhaps that is how this fellow really looks.
    I might consider toning down the rocks in the foreground a bit. I think you have captured the environment he hangs out in well.
    I wonder about perhaps a bit of a sharpening halo just in front of the forehead. Perhaps something in the background however.

    Always great to see the difference between this and the American East coast oystercatcher. Eye contact and angle look good. I might sharpen the bird a bit more and crop a bit off the bottom.

    Great low angle captured. IMG is well exposed on blacks and whites. Like the enviorment included. Well done !
