Default Young American Avocet in habitat

This is image was made in Palo Alto Baylands nature preserve, the chicks that hatched in winter have now grown up, the smaller ones are still vulnerable and need full parental care/attention. The older chicks have started to fly and are now zipping around. This is one of them, the top plumage has almost morphed to that of an adult with a few white spots left. This was one of the lucky days when dorsal bank view has come together with full habitat BG which includes water and marsh :D

    Hope you like it :)

Cool pose, good sharpness, eye contact and setting. The only thing I might do is removing the two blades of grass underneath the near wing.

P.S.: I think you were a bit early with this post. :)

Arash, this is spectacular. The painterly Bg takes it to another level. Of course everything abt the bird is gorgeous. You nailed this one. Great light too. Thanx for sharing.

Oh my goodness! This is the best Avocet photo that I have ever seen. Every single element of this photograph is in perfect place. I can't believe you can get a photo that is SO sharp from a fast flying bird like the Avocet. Really excellent, thanks for displaying.

Thanks everybody, someone mentioned that this might actually be a molting adult as opposed to a juvenile. So take it for whichever one is correct!
