    Default Tricolored Heron fishing

This image was made at Rincon de Guayabitos, Mexico last week (about 30 miles north of PV). Rolling surf prevented a lower camera position. I added a wee bit of canvas to the top and left side to better balance the image (in my opinion).

    Camera: Canon 40D
    Lens: Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS at 200mm
    ISO 200
    Shutter speed 1/790
    Aperture: f/5.6
    no flash
    hand held

Tough to see at this size, but I like the composition and agree with your choice to add canvass. There is a pretty hefty sharpening halo around the bill and in front of the neck.

Very good exposure and color Roger and nice alert pose in this tricolor. I would add a little more canvas to the top and to the right. Looks like it was an overcast day . Many thanks for sharing.

Nice specimen Roger and nicely done. I like the colors and head angle and do detect some haloing around the head and neck. I was going to put one of these on also but you beat me to it. :) I love blue Herons.

Roger I'd definitely like to see this posted at the full size allowed. Nice pose on the bird and I like the water swurling around its legs. A little more canvas would help. Was this a bit crop?

Good EXp and basic COMP. Needs more room above the bird. Quality/Noise looks suspect...

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I had to keep reducing the size to meet the pixel (kb) limit of this site. Started out at 700 on the long side, but reduced it to (I think) 420 on the long side before it finally downloaded. Never before had this situation in posting here.

Make it 800 on the long side and sharpen it. Then hit "Save for Web or Devices" and in the upper right corner of the window just below and to the right of Done you will see two right facing arrows. Left click on those arrows and then click on Optimize to file size. Type 145 in the box (I use 100 and my images all look great) and hit OK. Then continue and save in your desired location.

The above is just one of the thousands of great tips in ABP II and in Digital Basics...
