    Default A lucky shot

    Hi everyone!

Another one from my Bonaventure island trip at the end of june.

Early morning light. Hand held from a zodiac with Mk IV + 300 2.8 + TC 2,0X (9 pounds!). This is very heavy for me because I'm a small woman. This guy was part of small group of common murres. All the birds at the center of the frame were out of focus. Only this little guy on the edge of the frame was sharp. The left edge of this image is actually the left edge of the original horizontal image.

Thanks to my MkIV 16 Mpix, I was able to get a very fine 11X14 print out of this.

    MkIV, 1/4000s f/6.3 at 600.0mm iso640 no flash

    Thanks for looking!

I'm a big fan of seabirds and really enjoy this one. I like the low angle, eye contact and calm water. You could try to get more details in the blacks and tone down the whites a tad using curves. Thanks for sharing!

Really like this image! Super low angle with excellent sharpness and great eye contact. Nice detail in the darks; agree with Axel about toning down some of the whites. You did well hand holding a heavy rig from a Zodiac!

nice exposure and low angle, did you apply noise reduction to the bird?

No noise reduction was applied on that image.
