I photographed this Violet-bellied Hummingbird in Ecuador several years ago with the now very ancient Canon Digital Rebel. This is still one of my favorite images and it fits the weekly theme :). Not much PP.

Really sweet image Nancy, I love it! The falling rain against the green bg is really interesting and the droplets on the bird's head and wings are like little jewels. Like the saturation and tonal range, you got the exposure just right! Compositionally, it feels a little tight on both sides and the bottom. I think if are going to have the negative space above, you need to have a little more in the other directions as well. On the other hand, it looks really cool as a postcard crop, with a bunch taken off the top... :) Very nice!

Thank you both. Kerry, now that you point it out the sides and bottom do look a little tight. I think I have more space in the original so I will recrop.

Very good sharpness and I love the colours on the bird, Just feels a little tight to me as well. But exposure, sharpness, and the raindrops look great.

Beautiful HB. I really like the sharpness, colors, the water drops and the motion blur on the wings as well. Agree with the above comments regarding it being a bit tight. The water drop underneath the perch I find a bit distracting but other than that an overall very nice image.

Nancy, Beautiful sharp details. I just got back from Ecaudor and these little ones are not easy to capture. Just a bit tight on the sides for me. Beautiful image w/ the rain and fanned tail.

This is beautiful. The colors and details, the movement caught, the raindrops.
If I had taken it, it would be one of my favorites as well.
