As I was looking ahead to next years workshops dates, I pulled this image that was taken this past Feb at one of our workshops. We hope to see her again next year too ;-0

Cool landing pose, eye contact, perch and BG. If it were mine, I might try to lighten the iris.

Fabulous detail. Like the outstretched feet. Beautiful perch and BG, and nicely controlled whites.

I love the absolutely perfect exposure, precise detail and fantastic action a nanosecond before touchdown.

Well this is just outstanding. From a blind I assume, don't think you could bait them with food.

Beautiful image, love the landing pose with outstretch wings, looks shape with good exposure and very fine feather details. Love the perch and the background too, TFS.

Great job pushing the ISO to get good DOF and shutter speed. Lovely image!

Gorgeous shot, Alan. I really love this one -- a beautiful bird in a wonderful action pose with a smooth background.

FANTASTIC shot Alan!!!! If it were mine I won't touch the iris as this is exactly how it should look IMHO. I often see images where the eye or part of it is selectively brightened and it just doesn't look right or natural.

Alan: This is lovely! I've tried many times to get these over the winter here, but they are so wary. I really like the depth of field to get most of the wing in focus but still giving that sense of movement at 1/5000 sec! Love that perch as well!

Outstanding lanfing pose, with terrific light, detail, perch, BG and colors, the one thing I donīt love is the fact that the wing is not in focus, but this is just because from you I am used to see perfect DOF covering the whole bird, still, I think it is oustanding as I said. Congrats!

Perfect timing Alan, and I like the overall comp. Im surprised the ss didnt freeze the wing tips. Still, very well captured.

Great timing and IQ. IMG is sharp and the exposure is nailed. Like the chosen composition and the bg is a killer. Well done Alan !

One of the most stunning Kingfisher images I've ever laid eyes on. Perfect wing position, head is great, and the fact that it's landing, outstanding. Well done!
