    Default Spoonbill

    ISO 500
    ss 1/4000 sec

I find it difficult to correctly expose the whites of birds while in flight,:o so any help will be appreciated.;)

Nice comp, exposure and detail Charissa. Like the eye contact and clouds in the bg. Did you used the highlight tool ? Well captured !

Eye contact, sharpness and BG look very good. I wish the light would have been softer. If you photograph early or late in the day, some positive EC will help. Was this originally underexposed?

Nice detail on this top shot. The eye contact is great.

Like the eye contact, pose, detail & BG. A bit more overexposure in the early afternoon light would have given you better whites. Still well done!

Thanks everyone, for comments. Gerrie, would more over exposure not blow the whites out more? Still to get this over/under exposure perfected....
Nico, no highlight tool used, but the whites was a bit harsh,so toned down a step.
Axel, was over exposed, if i remember correctly......

Hi Charissa, I like the eye contact, and good detail shown on the wings. Overall sharp, and I agree with Gerrie to shoot from + 0.33. You have the same set up as me, and with experimenting on different species of birds, you will get to know what EC settings work. With your RAW converter, you can recover any over exposed areas. Cheers.
