Taken at Spitsbergen last June. Hopefully this gives an idea of Spitsbergens landscape. We waited for some time untill this Fulmar flew in right were we wanted it. Cropped to a pano for compositional purposes.

This looks great! I like the composition, light, clouds, landscape and the Fulmar adds to it.

I really like the setting here, together with the winter colours. Good timing to capture and place the Fulmar where you have.

    Krijn:

Looks very cold and barren. The addition of the bird adds a lot to the already nice image. I could see a version cropped in from the right, to move the main mountain out of the center a bit. Just an option. Burr, makes me cold:)

    Cheers

Krijn, this is just beautiful - you have really captured the atmosphere of the place and the colours are so beautiful. Personally I feel that the mountains need to be as you have presented them.

Krijn, I liked this a lot. would have been very good even without the bird....but the bird takes it to another level. What a place. Good call on the aperture. Thx for sharing.

A lovely image....the bird does not appear as a fulmar to me ...possibly a skua.

Thanks for the comments people, very much apprieciated!

Adrian, I am sorry to dissapoint you but this is a Northern Fulmar for sure. There were Arctic Skuas in the area as well though.

Wow what a place. A fine image indeed. Good thinking to wait for the added interested the fulmar provides.

Having looked at the species I now agree with you and my apologies for doubting you and for being a little ignorant of both species! I learned something!!!

Even more importantly I neglegted to say why I liked your image. I have always been a big fan of images showing tiny in the frame and in my humble opinion this one works very well in all respects.
