Thanks for pointing that out; so you would not have taken the shot, was not possible to realign in this location?
Lance
Yes and yes ; your right about the detail will rework, thanks for the help
Now assuming points already mentioned were sorted how would you deal with that kind of BG?? or just not bother with the shot I needed to bre on 5.6 for SS - hand held @ 400
Hi Richard, good subject but the lighting is working against you. There are numerous hot areas(on the bird's neck and foliage) which becomes a distracting element. Shooting a subject in a tree can be a challenge due to all branches and mixed lighting. I more than realise how difficult it is to get a clean shot with a bird in a tree...
Hi Richard. I would definitely have taken the shot but I would have used fill flash (minus 2 stops) which I always have at the ready with my flash and camera set up for high speed sync and a better beamer. This wouldn't have done much for the busy bg but would have possibly balanced the highlights versus the dark areas. Great bird!
Rich, I am a Nikon user, so I don't know what's best for Canon. I would suspect that you would want to go top of the line and be sure you can achieve high speed sync with the flash/camera body combo. Good luck.
