Hi Roy - I like this - typical Kingfisher pose - maybe he is confused ;)
Sharp as a tack - like the head turn - some nice detail in the eye also - have captured the metallic sheen nicely.
Head looks to be just that tad bit softer - a little more DOF perphaps.
    Good show :)

Nice job Roy. I like the color and feather detail, as well as the head turn and catchlight. You got the right light on this bird. How did you get it to perch so nicely for you? Seems like these guys are always on the move!

THanks Lance, this was a quick grab shot as I had to get into my pack and get out the D90 with the 300 and he didn't sit still long.

Thanks Julie. We had just come upon a hide and decided to see if some Yellowlegs would come closer so we could get some shots. The swallow kept coming to the slots in the hide and I asked my friend if there was a nest in the hide. Just then she said, "It's landed". I turned away from the tripod with the 500 and grabbed my other camera and lens, then shot a few pics before he was on his way again. The Yellowlegs never got close enough.:(

Hi Roy, good capture with nice detail. Agree with Lance regarding the slightly soft head which could easily be further sharpened. The subject is well lit with an over the shoulder HA.
I feel the image has more neg space on the left and I would crop some off...
