From the Feb. tour I led to Tanzania.....It's always fun to watch the baboons interacting with each other and even the fights. Clean shots aren't always that easy....but this baby hopped up on a downed tree for some grooming. Wished the adult had also looked at us.....of course when they finally did the youngster was busy scurrying about. Light fading fast....Canon 1D Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800 at 687mm at f6.3 for 1/1250 sec. and IS0 800....on beanbag.

Man, Roman, I love that baby stare. Same eyes as mom, by the way....I swear I can see it.....and that little fella is sucking its thumb. Very nice catch.

    Hi Roman,

I love the moment you captured. The gaze of the adult certainly projects a protective mood and the infant with its tub in its mouth completes the story. Exposure, details, and composition are look great. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Love the close crop and you have some great eye contact from the young one. Like the position of the hand as well.

    Roman,

I am deeply envious despite seeing many hundreds of mother and child Baboon moments I have never seen anything like this. Congratulations on capturing the moment so well, STUNNING:)

certainly a unique baboon shot and these are extremely hard to capture well...you did superbly! love the light, sucking thump, similar gazes and hand positions and overall comp even with part of mom cut off, the focus is all on the eyes and hands here
