This juvi was standing in a crevice at the base of a lava seacliff in the Galapagos, catching the late afternoon light. C&C welcomed and appreciated.

    Bill:

Lighting very effective here, with well illuminated bird and dark background. I like the comp.
The bird could stand a bit more sharpening.

You obviously were in close, as the 18-200 is not a well known birding lens! The Galapagos islands are a remarkable place!

Thanks Randy. The islands are indeed remarkable. On a number of occasions I found myself inside the minimum focusing distance of my longer lens, so started using this one as the default unless I knew I would be going for bif.

Nice pose and exposure. I like the sense of habitat given by the rocks. Nice HA and pose. You might try toning down the legs a bit.

    Looking forward to more!!

I like the composition, eye contact and unusual setting. I'm with Aidan on toning down the legs.

Very unique capture and I too like the setting. The lighting was handled well and good detail and eye contact. Look forward to seeing more Bill !!!!

Very nice repost, the poor bird looks wet and miserable :)
Love the habitat included and the light. Thanks for sharing it, Bill.
