    Same dam as my previous photo - beautiful red crested pochard swimming into the sunset in the direction of the roosting place.
    ISO 800
    70-20mm lens at 200mm
    F3.5
    1/6400sec

    Hi, Here you captured most of the detail with good soft light at the right angle. Wondering if a bit more detail could be brought out in the whites (not sure since I never saw this type) The water has nice color and texture. Regarding placement a number of things. First, I would rather have more space on the bottom than on the top in this case. I would also want more room in the front of the bird than the rear.
    Finally my preference would be for the bird coming at the viewer rather than going away.

    Gorgeous Duck - like the soft light - going to need that with the white area's.
    Dave covered the main points - all good advice and whilst they are general rules of the thumb - can always go outside of them - but best to understand the rules and why before.
    some nice detail in this - looking forward to seenig what you come up with next.

    Hi Pauline Agree with comments !!! Do keep and eye for the ducks head for taking the shot !!! ... btw if you are able could try some flat on the ground (if possible) does give a different perspective !!!
