Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a hot spot for white and black rhinos and has a good number of elephants which migrate in and out of the area therefore it isn't unusual for the species to meet. This situation was interesting because it is more unusual to find two black rhinos together and then to have the elephant in the same frame was a good photo opportunity. Unfortunately, we were on on the way to the airstrip and it was late morning so not optimal light or much time. Photographically I know that there is a lot of stuff which could be improved and if anyone has any suggestions I'll take them on board. All the same, as an animal behaviour moment I quite liked it. I tried B&W, but it became a bit fussy for my liking. C&C very welcome.

Hilary, You take photos for a few reasons, one is to attain perfection in the image. Another is to record a moment that is rare or unique. This is one of those. I'm not sure if there is much you can do to improve it and move it into the first category. The distance between the subjects is too great, the angle is not great and as you said the lighting is not great - gave some unpleasent shadows.
But all that said it is a great shot and one that will bring back great memories when viewed.
Hi Hilary,
I'm with Michael on this one.....sometimes the image is just for us and our memories! I would try shadow/highlights.....and see if that helps. If the elephant had turned to face the rhino's....that would be another story!
