    I kept looking at this bird as it flew over my head and wonder how it was able to fly :confused: .. don't recall seeing one in such bad shape, what could have happened

    excellent exposure Al, you had no room for error here and you did perfect! feathers look pretty beat, maybe he had a flight :D

    Looks like a pretty won out starling. Needs a bit of grooming. Sky is perfect to show all those ratty looking feathers.

    I've seen many of those birds (well, corvus monedula actually) because this is one of my favourite bird, and usually they have broken feathers or spider nets sticked on them, etc. but I've never seen one with the plumage so damaged. I can't understand how he's able to stay in flight. And unexpected picture and technically perfect. Good work!!
