Love the new forum! This P38 Lightning was participating in the Planes of Fame Fly-in at Valle, AZ recently. I was very happy to get shots of this handsome plane in flight.

Stunning aircraft, sadly i was at Duxford in the Uk when our only flying P38 crashed killing the pilot :( Always sad when i see one of these for that reason

But by golly do i love the aircraft

Well Taken, Is it much of a crop as looks a little soft? aside from that wicked shot :)

Peter, it is a fairly significant crop, ~ 50%, but something else is going on here. I did a "save as" of the web image and compared it to the .jpg file I uploaded earlier and the image is definitely softer, as seen here, and colors are slightly off. Not sure why.

hey alan, i thought i had the same issue this morning when i posted mine. the colors seemed off on the uploaded version vs the saved jpeg. we better check the colorspace we are saving in. gotta remember which one it is!

agree with pete that it does look a little soft, but wow what a great looking plane!! the banking pose is sweet!

Of course girls are allowed here! If you've seen some of the nose art on many of these old warbirds it's pretty obvious that girls are really appreciated!

Sweet banking pose of a splendid old bird. Pretty good on the props. Maybe another round of sharpening would help.
