I photographed this HH 3 image HDR with my Canon 5D Mark II, ISO 200, f/22.0, EF24-105mm f/4.0-5.6L IS USM, 40mm, Evaluative Metering, Auto exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. It was a very hazy day and I was wondering if there is anyway to process the image to cut thru more of the haze. Comments Welcome!
Hi Richard, From the angle you took this at you composed the image well. For my taste I would have liked to have seen more of the bridge but might not have been possible at your location. The image doesn't appear that hazy to me but you might try some S/H to bring out more detail in the water...
Doesn't look too hazy to me. I like the way you used HDR to get good exposure on the various elements in the composition, without introducing that unreal look of some HDR shots. Looks like fun in a kayak.
.... Bill I was thinking on running that on a canoe
Richard adding some black usually helps with hazy conditions but this looks just fine !! Just more favorable light would have made it better !!! Like it a lot !!
Al, I did add a wee bit of black and I painted it in, it helped. By the way, no rafting on this monster. I do believe that there are certain times of the year when they cut back the water that you can get a permit, but it's the highest rated rapids in the world. They don't even allow the jetboat!!
Greetings. Seems a little cool in WB to me (could be interpreted as haze). You might try warming it up a bit (selectively warm up the greenery & foreground rocks). Some selective additional contrast in the trees (particularly the far trees on the right), and perhaps, a bit more contrast in the water. Different ways to do this (my methods of choice are cyan and a touch of magenta selective curves in a wide-gamut CMYK, K curves to a small degree for contrast, back to RGB for separate curves for trees & water for contrast if tackled in pp... prefer to go back to raw conversion for WB adjustment then curves for selective contrast... don't know how this plays in HDR).
