Feedback always welcome, I am trying to balance the exposure so that the flash is not so obvious, but still enough to freeze important part of the action.

Does look somewhat over flashed - not a natural look or feel to it - Cant really tell what the perch is has taken on a strange look caused by the flash.
Multiple flashes may be the only way to freeze the action - Id check out any info from those who shoot hummers. Linda Robbins has a hummingbird guide that covers all the techs necessary.
One of the downsides to HSS flash is that you do loose some of the motion stopping ability of flash due to how the flash works in HSS. ( In high speed sync mode, the flash fires continuously, many thousands of times per second. All these pulses of light essentially merge together into one long "pulse" that stays on the entire time the shutter is open)
The perch is a fountain and that is water coming out of the top. On this shot it is a little clearer. This juvenile finch thought he would drop in for a drink, then he decided to put on the brakes!

Hi John, agree with Lance pertaining to the overflashed look. The water is not a plus since I wasn't sure what it was until I read the description.
I also like the interaction between the two. There seems to be a halo around the rock...
