    Default Green Heron

Caught this one feeding at a backwater pool off the Kishwaukee River near DeKalb, Illinois.

Welcome, Ric! Great details, light and BG. I wish for a bit more head turn toward you. Please post an image 800 pixels long since this is the maximum size allowed. Keep them coming.

    Thanks, Axel.

I cropped this one for use as wallpaper on a widescreen monitor. Thus the large size! I'll watch those pixels in the future.

This was the last frame a half second before jumping to flight. I agree about the head turn...it can make a big difference.

    Thanks, Glenn.

I shot this through a hole in the vegetation that was just large enough to frame the bird. Quite a bit of that BG effect is OOF foreground since the opening was a few feet from me.

Very nice colors and detail. I also like the unusual BG. It makes the picture looks like a painting.
