classic shot Peter...glad you applied the crop, it works really well and lifted the image to another level
gorgeous light and iconic scene
how much NR did you apply? it looks very smooth...is it some other filter you ran over the image?
some NR in LR 3 , and then another small round after resizing ,but before LCE in PS5 .. will have a look at my history in LR ...I might have ''your'' heavy hand in NR with slider (structure):D
Could this be a new double act in Landscapes, "Erasmus & Delaney" ?:D
I really like this Peter, love the depth of colour, mood & overall feeling. I think this is where Morkel was heading with his recent posting. The light beaming through the trees is a nice touch, but what really makes it for me is the subtlety of the dust being kicked up by wildebeest hooves. Very atmospheric.
BTW Peter what are the two/three spots on the rh side in the sky?

Thanks Steve for comments, Delaney and Erasmus... age before beauty:D plus I am funny one....!
those spots are just dust that was kicked it up by the passing wildebeest. very litttle wind... so they hung around... thought about cloning them out , but I dont think they detract from image too much...
what do you think ?
I will take your word on it, but guess someone else may have views on it:Dage before beauty plus I am funny one....!
Personally I would, as I do find it distracts, however it is your choice as the photographer, however in this instance if you did do it the 'cloning police' wouldn't have an issue I'm sure. ;)but I dont think they detract from image too much... what do you think ?
All the best.
Steve
PS We are talking about the same spots aren't we?

Very atmospheric Peter. Lovely feel to this image.
I agree with Steve that the ligher areas in the sky ( RHS ) need to be cloned out or darkened down a little.

Great colours in this one peter, the Gnu coming up the rear realy makes the shot for me as it gives it balance, i was there last year for a few weeks & met a photographer named Hannes Lochner in one of the Botswana camps do u know him ?, we got on the turps a few nights & had some good laughs
nice image
Cheers
Like this a lot Peter, great atmosphere.
Speaking of atmosphere, those spots could be from the sun flare? I don't like to clone a lot in my images, but this is one instance where cloning those spots out would really improve further here.

Peter, iconic imagery as said before. Really makes you feel that you're in Africa somewhere. I love the light through the dust and the fallen trees. Agree on some subtle cloning out of light marks on rhs.
Peter,
Another of your "classic" Gnu shots, I wish I could get just one. Anoter vote for removing the lighter spots.
Hi Peter I'm amazed at the landscape type images you are coming up with and the Landscapes posted in the other gallery !! Big Congrats ... here would do away with the couple of spots on the sky Sweet image lots of feel !!!
This image is a silky beauty and I love it. The colors are both intense and soft at the same time.

I like it as presented and agree with all above positive comments. Well done Peter.
Of all the fine pictures I have seen today on this forum, this one is my favorite by far.
Color, silhouette and I love those animals too. They often make dramatic pictures.
