Judy, this is just way too cute! Just love those newly-minted feathers, open mouth and one foot raised. Sharp, perfect EXP and BG. Thanks for sharing!

Great job in getting this baby sharp in action. You also did very well with what looks like harsh light.

You've handled the harsh light perfectly, and the pose is just too cute.

Very nice exposure control in bright light. The raised foot really adds to the story. To me, it looks like the bird is saying "ouch - the stones are hot"!

Thats a fair size head and beak for such a small fellow. The raised foot adds interest, and I like your low perspective Judy.

Agree with Dan about you controlling the harsh light well. Nice feather detail, sharpness, DOF and S/H. I like the raised foot.

Are you finding these on the east coast ?

I am so glad you were able to make it, and it looks like you had good weather, although cloudy and rainy could be an asset to B&W birds.
I think there was a bit of a magenta cast to the image, so I went in COlor Balance and added +7 of green (opposite magenta) and +5 of blue for good measure :)
It look better than setting the white point in Curves.
Very nice capture! DId you get the little OCs?

Didn't even notice the magenta cast until Fabs repost. The light is a bit harsh for me but the running pose, perfect exposure, and open bill are great.
