Hi Bob - do like the colours and the BG.
Looks sharp - would not usually shoot these wide open - generally would stop down more for more DOF - Need the SS to support it and/or a tripod.
Good use of the EXT tube!
    Keep em coming :)

Hi Bob, Agree with Lances comments regarding the color and backround. Also agree on stopping down for more DOF. You had the ss to do it since it is a stationary subject. The colorful perch adds to the overall interest...

Wonderful colors and background. I'm really surprised that you've got plenty of DOF given the wide open aperture. You say it was windy, so you needed the S/S and you maximized the colors by keeping the ISO low. I like the broadside pose and I suspect that the wings are deflected forward because of the wind. I just wonder if you happened to get a slightly more appealing wing position, or did he flit away before you could get in 50-takes?

    Well done.

Ditto on the colors and bg -- lovely. I suspect you did need the ss under windy conditions, so not sure what you could have done differently.

Hi Bob. Can add ...just curious on the need for the extension tube, that lens should get that close without any problem !

With Dflies you will have them returning to the same perch over and over so you will get lots of chances

Hi Al...This is a Tamron 300 2.8....It sure looked like it focused much closer with the tube than without!
