I don't do too much real macro, but this was interesting. It was taken at the Shaw Butterfly
House in St Louis, MO. No clean up done..........and cropped.

    Comments welcome.............

Excellent sharpness in the eyes and the wings. Loved the mix of colours.

    Hey Jay,
I know these guys well! Not usually veery cooperative! I do like the tight crop as it shows off the details nicely. I do think you can open up the blacks a touch....just to further bring up the details in the body and eye. Opening up the blacks will help take this up to another level.

Jay, I agree that bringing up the blacks a bit would really help here. I'm wondering if you did any color correction or hue changes because the greens on the leaf/BG don't look quite right to me. Maybe too blue? I also wish that back leg that come bounding into the FG were more in focus.

That said, I love the face, the tongue, thepatch of red "fur" on it's body...wonderfully done! The crop is a little close for me and I personally would have preferred a horizontal image with a 90 degree turn CCW but understand that this gives a different "feel" to the image.

Sharpness is VG and the pic is colourful. I too thought there was a bit of a cast going on.

    Julie,

Thanks, I'm working on a repost. Yes, good catch.............not sure what caused the color shift.
