As promised, here is the colour version of my earlier post (http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...e-move(B-amp-W))

I like both, and know many of you will prefer this one :)

Morkel - Like both but I prefer the monochrome because it is really different and dramatic.

Hi Morkel Different and work in their own way !! Might desaturate the blue some? ..... like how well the cheetah came out detail wise being so small in frame !!! Neat !!!

I think I'm leaning to the B&W version Morkel, to me it loses some drama in this colour version.

I'm with Marc on this Morkel, BTW do you use a polariser?

thanks for the comments Marc, Steve, Al, Harshad & Rachel.

I also prefer the B&W version for its drama and mood. I like the colour contrasts here. I do use a polariser which fits the 100-400mm but at this stage the polariser was screwed onto my 10-22mm lens which was on my 1000D body. At the time I completely forgot to put it on the zoom lens :(

I enjoyed both images very much, for me the B&W had a little more impact.

Both stunning images Morkel but agree that the B&W version has a more dramatic feel.

Morkel, this is a very beautiful photograph, however, having seen the b&w I still lean towards that version. Much more intensity for me. But both well worth keeping.

another vote for B&w .... agree about desaturating the sky as its competing with subject... or you could crop to pano which might be better option

    thanks for your thoughts everyone.

Peter - I don't think I'll crop this one for the simple reason, I've got shots at longer focal length with less sky already and I specifically framed like this to include the 3 streaks of clouds.
Here is a repost with the sky desaturated some - I think it works better, thanks!

    Hi Morkel,

I am with Peter. B&W and a pano crop would get my vote.

Hi Morkel, why did you make us wait for so long after coming back from the Kalahari to show us this.:) For me, one of your best shots. I agree the B and W has more drama, but the Kalahari sky is a very deep blue indeed, and when you can get your subject elevated enough to be against that sky, as you have done it looks great..so I will vote for the colour. I loved the sky,and clouds, the tension in the cheetah's posture, and your comp. Your shot takes me there. I also am looking forward to more at different focal lengths from the same series. Guess I prefer the repost, only just

    thanks Austin and Grant.

Grant - glad you like it! Both have appeal for me and the colour one for the reasons you mentioned. I do personally prefer the B&W version for the drama :)

    Will post more soon!
